As with my proofreading services, you will not simply receive a back a clean document and confirmation that the text has been edited.
It is important that you are able to see exactly what changes have been made and, of equal importance, retain the right whether or not to accept any changes made to your original text.
You will be provided with two copies of your original text which has been amended - one copy will clearly show all the changes made (the "trackchanges version) and one will be a clean, final version with all the emendments accepted.
Editing can take two forms. Copy Editing will check your text not only for basic spelling and grammatical errors, but will also check for correct syntax, accurate use of English, improve sentence structure and optimize the flow.
Line Editing involves a thorough examination of your text and will help with restructuring, fix continuity errors, check accuracy, remove ‘clutter’ and ensure that the story you want to tell, or the message you need to get over, is done so as effectively as possible.
I prefer to work on text provided in Word.doc or Word.docx format as this allows me to highlight any corrections made to the text and add notes in the margin where necessary.
